Orchestre Poly Rythmo European Tour

Orchestre Poly Rythmo have announced their first ever European tour. The cream of the band’s output can be heard on Soundway’s CD/LP compilation The Kings of Benin Urban Groove 1972-80. Based in Cotonou, Benin on the coast of West Africa, Orchestre Poly Rythmo (as their name suggests) play everything from afro-beat, funk and sato to soukous and deep afro-latin, all in their own unique style. They are one of the most versatile and prolific bands to come out of Africa releasing in excess of three hundred records and have enjoyed success throughout the continent since their formation 43 years ago. Kicking off at the Zomerparkfeest Festival in Holland on 29th August, the tour sees them play dates throughout Western Europe, including a very special show at the Marsatac Festival in Marseilles with seminal Scottish band and unlikely fans of the Benin collective – Franz Ferdinand.
